Nagios is a host and service monitor designed to alert a facility to network problems before clients, end-users or managers complain. The monitoring daemon runs intermittent checks on hosts and services specified using external "plugins," which return status information to Nagios. When problems are encountered, the daemon can send notifications out to administrative contacts in a variety of different ways (email, instant message, SMS, etc.).

A Wiki is a type of computer software that allows users to easily create, edit and link web pages. Wikis are often used to create collaborative websites and power community websites, and are increasingly being installed by businesses to provide affordable and effective intranets or for use in knowledge management.

The Learning Lab offers a hands-on opportunity to get up close and personal with some of the latest technologies. These small classroom-style learning labs are limited to 24 people at one time, and will be offered several times throughout the annual meeting. You must sign up in advance on the SIIM 2008 registration form. Bring your own laptop and plug in!
