The
Annual Meeting of the Society for Imaging Informatics in Medicine is a
scientific and educational meeting and the preeminent educational forum
and technical exhibition in image and information interpretation and
management. It features the most recent developments in medical imaging
informatics, particularly the advances in technology that can be applied
to health care settings to improve the clinical practice of medicine and
the effective management of health care resources.

Final Program

Program Objectives
Upon completion of the program, participants should be able to:
-
Identify important
concepts of imaging informatics that can improve medical practice
across the enterprise;
-
Describe the
latest results in imaging informatics research;
-
Explain how
important clinical problems in imaging departments are being solved; and
-
Interact with and
facilitate feedback from the experts in the field of imaging
informatics.
Who Should Attend SIIM 2008
-
Radiologists
and imaging physicians in other clinical specialties -- such as
cardiology, orthopedics, dermatology, and pathology -- interested in
learning more about implementing, integrating and upgrading PACS,
speech recognition, or teleradiology systems to improve workflow and
the efficiency of their practice;
-
Imaging
informatics professionals, imaging physicists, and scientists who
are interested in trends and learning about cutting-edge electronic
imaging developments and staying abreast of technical innovations;
-
Technologists,
PACS administrators, IT managers, and those who are interested in
advancing their careers as imaging informatics professionals;
-
CEOs, CFOs,
CIOs, and health care administrators at institutions that are
considering
enterprise integration strategies toward the image enabled
electronic medical record (EMR);
-
Computer
scientists, IT professionals, and engineers who want information
about the latest research in imaging informatics; and
-
Anyone who
wants access to practical information about imaging technology in an
open, collegial environment.
Session Overview
The general sessions include the
opening and
closing sessions and the
live workflow demonstration. These sessions spotlight core topics of
interest to radiological informatics professionals. Invited speakers and
key thought leaders in the field address major issues regarding digital
imaging and the electronic medical practice.
The SIIM University sessions scheduled for presentation at the Annual
Meeting will include Introductory, Intermediate, and Advanced level
courses within each section. The 2008 SIIM University curriculum
features 12 sections.
- Introductory (100 Level):
The 100-level presentations provide attendees with the basics
and fundamental information used in everyday application of the
technologies. These sessions are suitable for attendees with
little knowledge of image information technology.
|
- Intermediate (200 Level):
The 200-level presentations will allow participants to explore
the technologies in greater depth and are more applicable to
those with limited practical experience.
|
- Advanced (300 Level): The 300-level presentations
will allow participants to explore digital imaging
technologies in greater depth. These detailed and complex
didactic offerings are aimed at the technophiles and more
experienced users of the technology.
|
Invited speakers and key thought leaders will present in-depth,
specialized learning opportunities on cutting-edge, timely topics.
The SIIM 2008 Scientific Program captures the science at the heart of the
SIIM Annual Meeting. Each scientific session features moderated,
peer-reviewed presentations grouped into related categories. This year’s program includes 54 abstracts presented
as papers in 10 scientific sessions. Six of the abstract authors, whose
abstracts were highly ranked by peer-reviewers, have been invited to
give an extended presentation of their papers.
The scientific program also features a poster and demonstration session
and the R&D Symposium. Awards include poster and demonstration prizes, 8
New Investigator Travel Awards, and the Roger A. Bauman Award for Best
Student Paper.
These facilitated discussions will focus on topics of interest to select
audiences, including residents, PACS administrators, RTs, Open Source,
and others.
These workshop sessions will be scheduled in a small classroom setting
to provide hands-on training and exposure to topics such as DVTK, Nagios
& Wikis, and XIP.
Participants will be required to sign-up and bring their own laptops.
These stimulating sessions will feature experts in the field of imaging
informatics going head-to-head on present day controversies and
challenges
Please note: All educational &
scientific program will take place at the Washington State Convention &
Trade Center in Seattle.
