learning to use open source tools! |

The open source plug-fest was dedicated time at the SIIM meeting for
participants to get hands-on exposure to some of the most successful
open source projects used in imaging informatics. Representatives from
many open source communities presented and helped attendees understand
and get started using these powerful open source programs--from building
your own DICOM or HL7 server to system management tools to help you keep
a smooth running operation.

Communities in Medical Imaging
Attendees are to bring their laptops to the Plug Fest and representatives from
the following open source projects will be on hand to help them get started
using their programs.
- ClearCanvas
- dcm4che
- Mirth
- OsiriX
- XNAT
Each project will have a table at the Plug Fest
where attendees can gather to learn more.
Learning
Objectives:
1. Identify the advantages of open source software to the field of
imaging informatics.
2. Describe some of the most successful open source projects used in
imaging informatics.
3. Begin to use powerful open source programs.
