SIIM 2008 Faculty Onsite Instructions


NOTE: The following information is for faculty notified of acceptance for the SIIM 2008 Annual Meeting.

Faculty Onsite Instructions for ALL Speakers:

Upon arrival at the meeting. presenters are to proceed to the Speaker Ready Room (Meeting Room 601,  Washington State Convention & Trade Center) to view presentations. Speakers are requested to bring a final presentation on a portable storage device to the Speaker Ready Room 24 hours prior to presentations.  Please label the file with your name, the title of your presentation, and the name, date & time of session. If you are unable to provide your final presentation onsite 24 hours before your presentation, please submit to the SIIM ftp site no later than Friday, May 9, 2008.

Presenters need to plan on using a PC PowerPoint (or similar) presentation. There will not be a Mac option, or an option for conventional slides at SIIM 2008.

Meeting Rooms will be set with: Standard setup of podium, with podium light and microphone, laser pointer, Core 2 Duo, 2.4 GHz, 2 GB computer with monitor, LCD projector and one projection screen.

*** New This Year – Please Note***                                                                    For continuing education requirements all SIIM attendees will be required to track their session attendance at the SIIM 2008 Annual Meeting.  All attendees desiring credit are to scan their meeting badge at the scanning station in the back of the meeting room at the end of each session either 10 minutes prior to completion, or 10 minutes following completion of each session, to receive credit for attending the session. 


Scientific Presenters:

FULL PAPER SUBMISSION TO JDI
Each author is requested to submit a full paper of their SIIM 2008 scientific presentation via the Journal of Digital Imaging (JDI) Manuscript Central.

Papers will be peer-reviewed for publication in JDI and if accepted for publication will be listed in Index Medicus. The Journal of Digital Imaging reserves the right of first refusal.

Please submit online per the JDI Manuscript Central.

AWARDS:
The Roger A. Bauman Award for Best Student Paper and the New Investigator Travel Awards will be presented to recipients at the closing general session on Sunday morning. To be eligible for an award, authors are to turn in a full paper for peer-review to the Journal of Digital Imaging by May 1, 2008 via JDI Manuscript Central at https://mc.manuscriptcentral.com/jdi.


Posters and Demos:

The posters and demonstrations are an integral part of the SIIM 2008 Annual Meeting program.

POSTER & DEMONSTRATION LOCATION:
Posters and demonstrations will be set up for SIIM 2008 in
Rooms 602/603 of the Washington State Convention & Trade Center. Please check in at the SIIM Registration Desk located in the convention center South Lobby, Level 4 to receive your poster and/or demonstration location.

INSTALLATION & DISMANTLING:
Each presenter is responsible for the installation and dismantling of their display.

Set-Up Times:
Wednesday, May 14 - 5:00 pm - 8:00 pm
Thursday, May 15 - 7:00 am - 8:00 am

Posters must be completely set up by 8:00 am on Thursday, May 15 in order to be judged and eligible for awards and prizes.

Hours of Display:
Thursday, May 15 - 7:00 am - 5:00 pm
Friday, May 16 - 7:00 am - 5:00 pm
Saturday, May 17 - 7:00 am - 5:00 pm
Sunday, May 18 - 8:00 am - 10:00 am

Dismantling:
Sunday, May 18 -  10:00 am – 12:00 pm

Posters and Demos must be removed from Rooms 602/603 no later than 2:00 pm on Sunday, May 18.

POSTER SPECIFICATIONS:
A 4' (vertical) x 8' (horizontal) board will be available to display materials. Back-illumination (viewboxes) will not be available.

DEMONSTRATION SPECIFICATIONS:
Demonstrations will include a 3' x 6' table and electrical connection. Back-illumination (viewboxes) will not be available. Demo area will have a 4' (vertical) x 8' (horizontal) board to display materials.

POSTER & DEMONSTRATION SESSION:
The Poster and Demonstration Session is scheduled for Friday, May 16, 3:30 pm - 5:00 pm, and will be held in Rooms 602/603. Each presenter is asked to be available to discuss his or her presentation during this time.

AWARDS:
Posters and Demos are scored for awards/prizes based on the following criteria:  scientific merit, clarity of presentation, and interest to SIIM members. Awards for the best scientific exhibits will be displayed at Friday's poster and demonstration session. Prizes will be presented to recipients at the closing general session on Sunday morning. To be eligible for an award, authors are to turn in a full paper for peer-review to the Journal of Digital Imaging by May 1, 2008 via JDI Manuscript Central at https://mc.manuscriptcentral.com/jdi.

CME NOTICE:
Since SIIM scientific presentations are accredited for CME credit, SIIM maintains the right to actively protect that accreditation. The poster and demo session moderators will be instructed to interrupt speakers whose talk has an overt marketing bias, and to document those instances. Such documentation will be used in abstract evaluations for future SIIM meetings.
To avoid this, presenters are advised to avoid all marketing logos except for an opening slide and disclose any potential conflicts of interest (if applicable).

SECURITY:
SIIM will not be responsible for the installation or dismantling of your display.  Security will be provided by SIIM, but neither SIIM nor the convention center maintains insurance covering the presenter's property and it is the sole responsibility of the presenter to obtain such insurance.  Therefore, it is understood the presenter shall be fully responsible and liable for losses and damages for any of their own equipment used.
